The afternoon saw all the riders manoeuvre through the PTV (obstacle) course. Overall results for the event were as follows: 1st: Flora (Sandra Schmid) and Flower Power (Marlina Posthuma Quirke) 2nd: Ballyphillip Gold (Frances Whooley) and Silverspring Sia (Mary Creedon) 3rd: Birdhills SC II (Ellie Horgan) and Guinness (Kate Sheehan) 4th: Grace (Shirley Squire) and Shelly (Norma Steele) 5th: Stella (Julie O'Neill) and Angel (Katie Con O'Sullivan) 6th: Paris II (Siobhán Wolf) and Faerietale Dreams (Karen Vicencio) 7th: Gladys (Jane Capener) and Mikaela (Bridget Sheeran) Overall Results can be downloaded by clicking on this link: OVERALL RESULTS SUMMARY LEG 3 West Cork TREC would like to thank everyone who helped setup the course on Saturday, which was no easy feat as the obstacles had to be carried up the steep hill on foot. We thank the competitors, judges, and stewards for travelling to our event on the Sunday. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the land owners for allowing us to map the orienteering route up farm laneways and across fields and forestry tracks, the competition was greatly enhanced by the amount of off-road riding we were able to use in the POR route. This year our annual Midsummer event was 2-day 3-phase event held at a farm at Kilrussane, Knockraha, Co. Cork during the weekend of 23rd and 24th June 2018. The results are as follows:

The general consensus from the riders afterwards was that it was a nice course although there was quite a bit of mounting involved. We would like to acknowledge that there would have been a few more entries had it not been for the POR training session in Punchestown the day before. The Winter League has already started, and the second competition in the league is set for Sunday January 15th 2017 at Bantry Pony Trekking (Jenni & Martha's). We hope to see you there. A total of 29 tests were ridden in this competition, the first leg of our Winter League 2016/2017. Some of the riders had never ridden in a 20x60 arena before, for some this was their first ever dressage test, and for some this was their first ever experience of D-TREC where obstacles had to be negotiated during the dressage test. We would like to thank Cashelane Stud for the use of this beautiful venue overlooking Dunmanus Bay, and we hope we shall be able to return again for another competition at a future date. We would also like to thank dressage judge Pam Franklin and her scribe Angelique; Bastian, Adèle and Ian for judging the TREC obstacles; Nicky for reading so many tests; Tom for photos; Claudia for taking control of the signing in sheets and collecting fees; and all the other helpers and spectators. Last but not least, a big thank you to the riders and their horses who made this event a wonderful one to watch.
Three grades of test were available, Novice, Intermediate and Open. Closing date for entries is 2nd November, but please try to let Adèle know as early as you can if you are entering, or if you will be able to help if not riding. A decision was made to remove all penalties for the equipment check on the POR phase. Here are the revised results from the one-day three phase level two event held at Castletownbere on 10th September 2016.
Our thanks to Julie and Annie of Lios Lara Riding Stables for hosting this event, to all their helpers, to Bastian (Technical Delegate), to Ian (Traceur), to Christina (Vet) and to everyone who helped make this a special day. There was a fantastic response by West Cork TREC members to our request to provide pairings for all our under 18 riders who wanted to compete at Level 2, and in the end we had 13 pairs out competing in the three phases and 2 individuals riding H/C in the POR. The weather improved during the morning, allowing the riders to enjoy the stunning scenery on the POR route which took us down quiet back roads and along off-road mountain tracks. The MA phase was ridden while out on the POR route, which was an interesting twist to our normal 3 phase competitions. We had a total of 29 riders for the PTV phase which started later that afternoon. The PTV course took us out across the fields near the stables and the stream that runs between two fields was utilised as a water crossing obstacle. It was a really enjoyable day, and we hope to return to Castletownbere again. |
